Preliminary Announcement and call for abstracts
2006 COASTLAB06
1st International Conference on the Application of Physical Modelling to Port and Coastal Protection
2006, May 2nd ? 4th
Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal
The First International Conference on the Application of Physical Modelling to Port and Coastal Protection ? CoastLab06, will take place from May 2nd to 4th, 2006 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto in Portugal. This conference will provide a general forum for enhancing interdisciplinary interactions, dialogue, and cooperation among scientists interested in physical coastal modelling, as well as laboratory equipment suppliers.
This is the first call for papers. All interested persons are invited to submit abstracts for consideration. Both oral and poster presentations will require an abstract.
Original papers on physical model experiments both on scale and in prototype are invited. Practical papers detailing the design, construction, instrumentation and results of model tests, as well as theory, measurement, analysis and modelling for the following topics are encouraged.
§ Waves: generation, theories, prediction;
§ Structures: types, interactions and structural responses;
§ Measuring Techniques: pressures, velocities, forces;
§ Erosion/Scour: assessment, control;
§ Scale Effects: control, techniques;
§ Natural Hazards Assessment.
All abstracts should be emailed as one word-file attachment to fpinto@fe.up.pt . Deadline for receipt of abstracts is October 15, 2005.
Registration forms and fees, as well as other relevant information on the conference are available on the conference web site http://www.fe.up.pt/~lpneves/coastlab06 .
