XIXth Seaweed Symposium: Kobe, Japan, 26-31 March, 2007

The 19th International Seaweed Symposium Symposium will be held on 26-31 March 2007 at Kobe International Conference Center in Kobe, Japan, hosted jointly by the Japan Seaweed Association (JSA), the Japanese Society of Phycology (JSP) and the Japanese Society of Marine Biotechnology (JSMB). This is the second ISS meeting to be held in Japan (the first took place at Sapporo in 1971).

Kobe, 30 km west of Osaka, with a population of 1.5 million persons is the capital of Hyogo Prefecture. The city has thrived as an international trade center and still retains the exotic atmosphere of an international port city, and is near the historical city of Kyoto. There are seaweed farms of Nori (Porphyra) and Wakame (Undaria) near the city, and seaweed processing factories, which you can visi t.

The deadline for Registration and Abstracts has now been extended to 15 September 2006. More than 300 delegates have already registered.

Michael Guiry (on behalf of the Organising Committee).
